Russian Gilt Bronze Sleigh w/ Ice Paperweight
Russian paperweight in the form of a gilt bronze sleigh carrying a large chunk of quartz "ice." Mounted to a malachite base.
Provenance: Property from the distinguished collection of Mr. James Lee Soffer, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Height: 2 1/2 in x width: 5 1/4 in x depth: 3 1/2 in.
Condition: The item is in fair condition. As shown in the listing image, there are possibly small losses and cracks to the ice which may be original to the artistic process. Metal oxidation to the sled. Chips to the base. Wear throughout. Wear to the underside, consistent with age and use. There is an adhesive sticker residue and glue residue to the underside. No visible sign of restoration under UV light.
