KARLHEINZ STOCKHAUSEN - PHOTO WITH AUTOGRAPH

Karlheinz Stockhausen (Kerpen, 22 August 1928 – Kürten, 5 December 2007) was a German composer. He is recognized by critics, apart from some controversy[3], as one of the most avant-garde composers of the 20th century. He is known for his work on electronic music, on alea in serial composition, on intuitive music and on spatialization in music. Karlheinz Stockhausen studied at the Hochschule für Musik Köln in Cologne and, later, at the University of Cologne. Later he studied with Olivier Messiaen in Paris and with Werner Meyer-Eppler at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. He was one of the most charismatic figures of the Darmstadt School and his theories on composition were and still are seminal not only among contemporary composers, but also in jazz and popular music. His work, which extends over sixty years, goes beyond traditional modules. In addition to electronic music, his experimental work includes compositions for carillon, solo instruments, songs, chamber music, choral music, orchestral music and opera. His work as a theoretician and essayist includes 10 volumes. He also received numerous awards for his compositions, his recordings and for the sales of his production company.
