Timkov Nickolay Yefimovich (1912, Rostov region - 1993, St. Petersburg).
Honoured Artist of RSFSR (1987). Nickolay Timkov studied at the Rostov Art School from 1927 to 1930 and then at the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture, where I. Brodskiy was his teacher until 1939. In 1943, Timkov joined the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists. He was among the leading artists of the ‘Leningrad school’ and a master of landscape painting. First exhibited in 1929, he had his one-man shows in Leningrad / St. Petersburg (1947, 1976, 1993), Moscow (1982), Rostov-on-Don (1957), San Francisco (1998, 2000, 2001), Aspen (1999), New York (1999, 2001), Scotsdale (2000), Palm Beach (2000), Vale (2001), and Washington (2001). He repeatedly participated in All-Union Art exhibitions. The artist’s works are in the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.
