Ferat, Serge (1881-1958).

Painter and writer. Studied at the Kiev Art School under A.V. Bouguereau. In 1900 he moved to Paris. Studied at the R. Julien Academy and often visited Marcel Baschet's studio. Took part in the "Salon des Indépendants". Communicated with avant-garde artists, among whom were P. Picasso, A. Matisse, A. Derain, F. Picabia. In 1910, Serge Ferat became interested in the theory and practice of Cubism. In 1919-1920, he became one of the main exhibitors of the revived "Golden Section" group, devoted to the ideas of Cubism. In 1921-1923, he collaborated with the Russian magazine "Udar". The artist's works are in the collections of the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Paris Museum of Modern Art and other major museums in the world, as well as in private collections.
