Flemish School of the 16th Century - Dead Christ supported by the Virgin and Saint John
Oil on panel. Dimensions: 49 x 38 cmThis 17th century oil on canvas belongs to the circle of Charles Le Brun, a key French painter of the Baroque style and director of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in France. In this work, the characteristics of the French Baroque can be observed, with a detailed treatment of the drapery and a dramatic use of light. The piece is an excellent example of the Baroque classicism that dominated the art scene under the reign of Louis XIV. The dimensions are 42 x 34 cm.
