17th Century Flemish School - Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian
Oil on panel. Dimensions: 81 x 66 cm. Depicting the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian, this 17th-century work, also from the Flemish School, stands out for its compositional strength. Saint Sebastian, tied to a tree, is shown at the moment of his martyrdom, with two executioners shooting arrows at him. The vegetation and architecture that frame the scene give depth to the landscape. The use of chiaroscuro emphasizes the emotional tension and sacrifice of the saint.
