Flemish School of the 16th Century - Marriage of Saint Catherine and Saint Francis
Oil on panel. Dimensions: 81 x 69 cm. This oil on panel from the 16th century Flemish School depicts the marriage of Saint Catherine to Saint Francis, a recurring theme in religious iconography. The work is adorned with rich clothing and symbolic elements such as the ring that unites Saint Catherine to the Child Jesus. The heavenly figures watching the scene from above and the detailed work on the folds of the clothing give depth to the composition.
