Spanish School of the 20th Century - Guardian Angel
High relief in polychrome wood. Dimensions: 152 x 200 x 14 cm. This high relief, made in the 20th century, represents the classic figure of the Guardian Angel, protector par excellence of the innocence and purity of children. The composition stands out for its delicate polychromy that highlights the luminosity of the wings and the tender interaction between the angel and the children he guides, providing a narrative dimension that invites contemplation. This type of iconography was promoted during the rise of Spanish devotional sculpture and takes up the formal language of Baroque imagery, adapting the dramatization of gestures and the softness of the faces to a more contemporary style.
