Plaster cast of the lower part of the Winged Victory of Samothrace, 20th century (Seal of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts)
Plaster. Dimensions 231 x 102 x 79 cm. This 20th-century cast reproduces the lower part of the famous Greek sculpture "Winged Victory of Samothrace". Made using the casting technique, it accurately captures the dynamism and essence of the original sculpture, even though it is incomplete. Plaster, lighter than marble, allows for an accessible replica of the Hellenistic work, which stands out for its great expressiveness and movement. Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, advances with her wings spread, symbolising triumph. This type of reproduction, common in the 20th century, had an educational value in spreading knowledge of classical art among students and enthusiasts.
