17th Century Italian School - Immaculate Conception
Polychrome and gilded carved wood (19th century base). Dimensions 46 × 19 × 19 cm. This sculpture of the Immaculate Conception, belonging to the Italian School of the 17th century, stands out for its elegance and delicacy. The Virgin, in prayer and on a cloud, symbolises purity, with the crescent moon and angels representing divine protection. The technical quality is remarkable, evidencing the virtuosity of the Baroque era, where devotion and religious education were fundamental in social life. This work is a testimony to the religious fervour and artistic skill of the period.
