France: LARGE IRON MISSAL CASSETTE
LARGE IRON MISSAL CASSETTE.

Date: 15th-16th c.
Technique: Iron on oak wood core. Later lined with purple velvet on the inside.
Description: Rectangular shape with a slightly curved lid, divided by three bars, the centre one
shortened by a transverse bar. The hinge on the narrow side. The iron mounting is finely
perforated like a net in a tracery-like pattern. The lock with double hasp, in the centre
an ornament with a stylised tree crowned by a heart. Hinged lock cover. Two suspension
rings on each side.
Measurement: 11,5x15x19,5cm.
Lock mechanism no longer in place.
