Francesco Magiotto (1738-1805) Portrait of Doge Galla Gaulo (reigned Venice from 755-756), with lettering: Galla Dux Venetiarium Electus Anno DCCLV (755), verso: signed 'Franco Magiotto’ and annotated: ‘Galla/ D.V. anno 755’. Note: Galla Gaulo seized power after betraying Teodato Ipato. Later deposed, blinded and exiled the next year. Oil on copper, 14.7 x 11.9 cm.
