Mies Elout-Drabbe (1875-1956) 'Girl from Zeeland dressed in traditional costume', signed ‘M. Elout - Drabbe’ and dated ‘Domburg December 1909’. Although Mies Elout led a secluded life in Domburg, she played an important role as a muse for artistic and literary friends such as Toorop, Mondriaan, Arthur van Schendel and Richard Roland Holst. She was one of the main organizers of the famous Domburg exhibitions that took place between 1911 and 1921. Lit: F. van Vloten, Moen! Between Toorop and Mondriaan.
