Moissey Kogan (1879-1943) “Freundinnen”, posthumous edition from ca. 1960. Mrs. Van der Meijden-Bakker was the owner of Galerie/Kunstzaal de Reiger, Utrecht, founded in 1962. Here she exhibited works by artists such as Fred Carasso, Leo Gestel, and Moissey Kogan. She had a close relationship with art critic Jan Engelman and both were members of Genootschap Kunstliefde. Engelman, in turn, played an important role in the editorial staff of the magazine De Gemeenschap. Kogan's work was very popular among Engelman and De Gemeenschap. It is possible that Kogan gave Engelman permission to have this edition cast, but there is no conclusive evidence for this. For this reason, this sculpture cannot yet be defined as an authorized edition. Bronze with marble base, height excl. base 17,7 cm.
