A silver prize cup, Germany, first half 20th century With a driven decoration of masks, foliage, flowers and fruits. First grade (925/1000). Manufactured by: Bruckmann & Söhne, Heilbronn. Gross weight: 1244.1 grams.Note: Originally won at an equestrian competition in Hanover in 1929. Hence also the engraving on front and reverse: Dem Sieger/ im/ Preis der Stadt Hannover/ Hannover 1929/ contessa/ Maddalena /Gegeben vom/ Magistrat/ der / stadt Hannover. The horse Contessa Maddalena won several major international prizes in the 1920s and was owned by industrialist Richard Haniel and his wife Baroness Irmgard Ulrike, also known as Ulla Haniel. She later gifted the cup to a friend Hermann Schätti. This is also clarified by the personal inscription that was added: Meinem Lieben/ und betreuen Freund/ Schätti-Hinwil/ Zur Bleibenden Erinnerung/ an Enna's ersten Sieg/ Auf dem grünen Rasen und an/ Ulla Haniel/ Baron. Rauch-Levetxov/ Baden-Baden/ Weinachten 1948. 37,5 x 24 x 14,5 cm.
