MASSENA ANDRE: (1758-1817) Marshal of France, Duc de Rivoli. A good L.S. `Massena´, two pages, folio, Head Quarters of Loano, Italy, 22nd September 1794, in French. Massena, in his capacity as General of Division, signs a report related to the military services of Captain Jean-Aimé l´Autour, his behaviour and zeal, stating `J´atteste que la conduite morale et politique du citoyen Lautour mon aide-de-camp a toujours été, depuis que je l'ai connu, celle d'un vrai Républicain…sa capacité, son intelligence et son zèle pour le bien du service ne cesse de lui mériter chaque jour ma confiance, et le rendent digne d'un emploi supérieur…´ (“I certify that the moral and political behaviour of citizen Lautour, my aide-de-camp, has always been, since I knew the service does not cease to earn him my confidence every day, and make him worthy of a higher employment...”) Small overall minor creasing, otherwise G
