an einem Hang gelegener Garten mit Skulptur und einer Gruppe von Säulenzypressen und im Hintergrund einige Gebäude im typischen italienischen Stil, Aquarell auf Papier und auf Hartfaserplatte kaschiert, im unteren Bereich bezeichnet und datiert "Verona 1885", unten rechts in der Ecke Monogramm in Blei "W. B.", auf der Rückseite bezeichnet "Wilhelm Beckmann Düsseldorf u. r. monogr. ...", hinter Glas gerahmt, Falzmaße ca. 26 x 21 cm. Künstlerinfo: dt. Maler der Düsseldorfer Schule (1852 Düsseldorf bis 1942 Berlin), ab 1868 Studium an der Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, ab 1872 Privatschüler von Eduard Bendemann, 1873 Reise nach München und Kontakt zu Wilhelm von Kaulbach, Übersiedlung nach Berlin und Mitarbeit an der Ausmalung des Corneliussaales in der Nationalgalerie, Mitglied des Künstlervereins Malkasten in Düsseldorf, 1880 übernahm er die künstlerische Leitung für den Festumzug zur Fertigstellung des Kölner Doms, 1881 Studienreise nach Paris und Kontakt zu Édouard Manet, 1883 Gestaltung des Festumzuges anlässlich des 400. B." in the lower right corner, inscribed "Wilhelm Beckmann Düsseldorf u. r. monogr. ..." on the reverse, framed behind glass, folded dimensions approx. 26 x 21 cm. Artist information: dt. Painter of the Düsseldorf school (1852 Düsseldorf to 1942 Berlin), studied at the Düsseldorf art academy from 1868, private pupil of Eduard Bendemann from 1872, travelled to Munich in 1873 and made contact with Wilhelm von Kaulbach, moved to Berlin and worked on the painting of the Cornelius Hall in the Nationalgalerie, Member of the Malkasten artists' association in Düsseldorf, in 1880 he took over the artistic direction of the procession to mark the completion of Cologne Cathedral, 1881 study trip to Paris and contact with Édouard Manet, 1883 design of the procession to mark the 400th anniversary of Luther's birth for the city of Cologne.
